Webb6 juli 2004 · Sharpey fibers appeared either as dome-shaped projections, when highly mineralized, or as depressions when less mineralized. Near the alveolar crest, most of the fibers were fully mineralized and arranged in compact longitudinal rows. WebbCementum is a mineralized conjunctive tissue, part of the insertion periodontium, which covers the root dentin in a firmly adhered way and, it is the interface between dentin and periodontal ligament. WebbSharpey fibers are part of the principal collagenous fibers of the periodontal ligament. These fibers are embedded in the cementum and the alveolar bone which attach the tooth to the alveolus. When the cementum is visible on the teeth, this suggests that there is root exposure. This often occurs as a result of gingival recession. The cells of cementum are the entrapped cementoblasts, the cementocytes. Each cementocyte lies in its lacuna, similar to the pattern noted in bone. These lacunae also have canaliculi or canals. Unlike those in bone, however, these canals in cementum do not contain nerves, nor do they radiate outward. Instead, the canals are oriented toward the periodontal ligament and contain cementocytic processes that exist to diffuse nutrients from the ligament because it is vasculariz… Webb8 jan. 2024 · • Located in cervical half of the root and constitutes the bulk of cementum • The collagen fibers derived from Sharpey’s fibers and ground substance from cementoblasts • Covers 2/3rds of root corresponding with the distribution of primary acellular Cementum • Principal tissue of attachment • Function in anchoring of tooth small corn muffin calories
